Tips to Clean Up the Messiest Places in your House

Humans are creatures of habit. While this can be a positive characteristic, there are some negative aspects as well. These habits are often manifested in the way humans organize their homes. There are some rooms throughout a home that tend to attract clutter. No matter how often the house is cleaned, it seems like these places remain perpetually messy. Here are some home cleaning tips for the summer to help solve this problem.

1. Kitchen Cabinets

Most people have their kitchen cabinets nearly overflowing with pots, pans, lids, bowls, plates, and more. These spaces are difficult to keep clean and organized because they are being used every day. You have to access the cabinets for something different each meal. Furthermore, the lack of organization makes it difficult to find what you need. A great way to organize kitchen cabinets is by storing your flat items vertically. Instead of stacking cookie sheets, trays, and lids, use dividers to store these items vertically. This allows for quick and easy access while also leaving extra space.

2. Entrance Hall

The entrance hall is the first barrier between the outside world and your home. This space is usually full of jackets, shoes, and other items of clothing. Instead of letting this area become a junk pile, there are a few organizing tips that you can follow. First and foremost, get rid of any jackets or shoes that are not in season. There is no reason to have these items taking up valuable real estate in the entrance hall. Next, take some time to create dedicated places for all of the items kept in the room. For example, a rack can be used to hang jackets and a cupboard can be used to organize shoes.

3. Medicine Cabinet

Many homeowners cannot open up their medicine cabinet without having something fall out. These cabinets behind bathroom mirrors are fantastic spaces to keep items when they are used correctly. To organize these areas, you must prioritize what is housed in the medicine cabinet. Despite the name of this cabinet, medicine shouldn’t actually be kept in a bathroom. The humidity can cause some medication to go bad. Once all of your medication is cleared out, organize your toiletries into their specific uses. You can then dedicate a basket for each of these uses. For example, a basket for makeup will be separate from a basket dedicated to dental care.

4. Linen Closet

Linen closets are often used like trashcans for items that we don’t want to throw away. Anything that we don’t want to see goes straight into the linen closet. This leaves these spaces full of junk without any organization. One great way to keep these closets organized is by designating a shelf for specific items. For example, one shelf could be used for bed sheets and pillowcases, while another is used for bathroom and cleaning supplies.

Organizing your home doesn’t have to be a daunting process. With these home cleaning tips, you can have the messiest places in your home as neat as ever.
